Summer Term ECAs

Dear Parents,


Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs)

I am writing to inform you that the Summer 2016 Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs) will run from Sunday 17th April 2016 to Thursday 12th May 2016.   

The ECA programme this Academic year provides the most extensive and diverse range of activities the school has ever been able to offer.  The activities are divided into two groups: Sporting and Non-Sporting.

Primary School ECAs

The Sporting ECAs for the Primary school will take place on the following days:


Tuesday               Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6     1.45pm – 2.30pm

Wednesday        Year 5 & 6 Swim Squad only  1.45pm- 2.30pm

Thursday            Years 1 & 2          1.30pm – 2.15pm (note earlier finish time this day)

Primary Non-Sporting ECAs will run Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.   All ECAs will run for 1 session only this term.

Registration for all activities will close on Thursday 17th March 2016. Please note that spaces on some ECAs are limited, but every effort will be made to accommodate each student’s requirements.

Collection after ECAs: Primary School

 As last term, students will be taken in their ECA groups and lined up in the shaded area of the playground after the activity, and teachers will record that the children have been collected.  Parents/carers should access the school via the rear gate, which will be opened 10 minutes before the end of the ECAs, to allow easy access to the playground.  Please ensure that you are displaying your security pass or you will be denied entry.  Parents must wait within the fenced area of the cafeteria until activities finish; please be aware that the shaded area is often used for activities.

Secondary ECAs

Students in Years 7 to 13 do not need to register online.  Students need only attend the activity at the starting time outlined, with correct kit, and to register with the member of staff running that activity.

The Sporting ECAs will take place on the following days:

Sunday                 Years 7, 8 & 9        

Wednesday       Years 10 to 13    

Non-Sporting ECAs will run on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  All Sporting and Non-Sporting ECAs will run for 1 session only this term (1.45pm to 2.30pm).  For the full list of activities being offered, please refer to the attached table.

Please note that it is not acceptable, under any circumstances, for siblings to wait in school while brothers or sisters attend activities.  If you have a child that is not attending an ECA you will be expected to pick them up at the end of the school day and return for your other child/children at the end of the ECA session.

If the school cancels an ECA at short notice, you will be notified of the cancellation by email.  If you are unable to make alternative arrangements to collect your child at 1.30pm, the school does have arrangements in place for your child to be looked after until you can collect them.  No child will ever be instructed by the school to telephone their parent to request that they are collected immediately if it has been a school decision to cancel their ECA.
