7.05 to 1.30
Key Stages 3 and 4 (Years 7 to 11)
In Key Stages 3 and 4 (Years 7 to 11), learners gather in the main playground at the start of the day. The whistle blows at 7.05 signaling learners to move to their Form rooms. Break time is from 9.30 to 9.50. Lunch time is from 11.50 until 12.30.
Learners are collected from school at 1.30. Those who do not leave on time are supervised until they are collected. Parents whose children are habitually late leaving school will receive a polite reminder that school ends at 1.30.
Learners who attend Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs) are collected from school at 3.00 or at 4.00 depending on the end time of the activity.
Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13)
Sixth Form learners are expected to be autonomous in arriving and leaving school on time. They should enter and exit the school via the gate and entrance to the Sixth Form Centre.
In years when Ramadan occurs during term time, the school will operate shorter hours. The canteen will be closed and different arrangements will apply for the consumption of food and drink. These will be communicated to families.
Study Guide for Key Stage 3
The homework study guide gives general advice along with good ideas for time management; research skills and enquiry skills; using mindmaps and writing essays and newspaper articles.
Key Stage 4
In Key Stage 4 homework is also an essential part of learning. It helps learners to consolidate what they have done; it gives them a chance to prepare for work to come, and helps them to develop independent study skills. Each learner receives a planner at the start of the school year. Learners in Key Stage 4 will be set homework on a regular basis and they should write homework that has been set in their planners, both to help themselves and to provide a record.
