Guidance about applying to universities is part of DBS’ Physical, Health, Social and Emotional (PSHE) curriculum from Year 10, so that when learners reach Key Stage 5 they have already been able to develop their thoughts and ideas about further education. They choose their IB or AS Level subjects accordingly. As part of supporting the Sixth Form, Sara Prince is available to offer advice to all Key Stage 4 and Keys Stage 5 students about university requirements.
Our aim is to ensure young people at DBS are aware of all the opportunities available to them and are, therefore, able to make an informed decision about their future. To do so, we seek to develop the knowledge and skills that they need to help with career planning.
Support is offered for:
- Choosing Year 9 options
- Sixth Form option choices
- University guidance and applications
Regular careers news bulletins are issued to students and parents to inform them about important events, deadlines and information required to support young people as they move towards their next phase of career decisions.
Throughout the year the Sixth Form will welcome worldwide university representatives, university fairs and presentations about choosing universities, courses and the application process.
