My advice for students who are applying to universities is to start the application process early in order to meet all the deadlines as well as students should have a backup plan for more than one university.
  • Maya Mohamad-Ali

The wonderful teachers at DBS guided me through some of the greatest but the toughest years of my life, never tiring of my infinite number of questions and always finding the time to have a little chat with us. I have honestly learnt so much during my time at school and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the people I met at DBS and the memories that I’ve created with them.
  • Manya Girdhar

One of the greatest life lessons I have learnt in just two years of university is that rejections and failures are a part of the learning process. It is completely normal to take longer than others to figure out your life – to be undecided about your university major, to find it hard to live alone and to take a long time to get used to university lectures and the content. But my impression has been that in any situation, perseverance (with a little help from others) takes you a long way.

Applying to University sounds like a huge step, but I think it’s important to remember that University is nothing but the next step. A stepping stone for a future career - and by no means more difficult than the path you’re currently walking. University aims to provide an atmosphere where you’re welcomed for not knowing how to do your laundry, or how to cook proper food - and you’re never alone. Everyone is on the same boat, and the journey together is what University is all about. Aim to reach your predicted grades - go beyond if you can, but don’t be frightened by the idea of University and apply to one where you feel at home.

My advice to students applying to universities is to look at the rank of the university. It is more important than the country, quality of education over anything.
