The Jubilee spirit was high as the whole Doha British School community came together to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.Students and staff came to school wearing red, white, and blue. Our campuses were adorned with images of the Queen. We had a successful Bake Sale participated by parents and students, and our Secondary School hosted a Baking Competition in honour of the Queen!
Doha British Schools will be closed for students from Sunday 1st May to Monday 9th May for the Mid-Term break and Eid Al-Fitr holidays. Learning will resume on Tuesday, 10th May at 7:00 am.
DOHA BRITISH SCHOOL WAKRA SIXTH FORM Make the last 2 years of your education count Doha British School Wakra in Qatar provides students with Sixth Form program during the last years of schooling. Sixth Form in definition, is a pathway option chosen during the final two years at school in order to successfully transition from school to universities. Choosing a Sixth Form pathway is critical since it helps students to further pursue fields of study in universities. All the pathways are internationally recognized; the catch is, each university worldwide is unique and has specific requirements for the programs they may offer. The duration of each pathway varies, providing students with enough time in order to study well and improve their grades. AS level/ IAS Academic Pathway Doha British School Wakra offers the AS level programme. The Advanced Subsidiary Level or the IAS academic pathway at Doha British School Wakra is a one-year duration of programme study. The course is suitable for students who wish to complete Qatar’s twelve years’ requirement of education and the pathway is also accepted worldwide wherever twelve years of studies are required. Students enrolled in this particular sixth form pathway select four subjects to study and give examinations during the summer term with a re-sit opportunity in November or January. There are various AS subjects for students to choose from such as Arabic, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Language, Geography. Along with this, Doha British School Wakra provides all sixth form students with career and university guidance at school from designated professionals and tutors in order for students to make informed choices and decisions based on their interests for their future careers.
DBS Wakra have celebrated this year's theme of "I am a reader" with our usual enthusiasm and whole-school collaboration. Activities ranging from character costumes, to teacher book recommendations, to Drop Everything and Read will be taking place throughout the day but we are proud to introduce our own version of Bedtime Stories here. Our annual STEM Week celebrates and promotes all aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths within our challenging, rich and rewarding curriculum as well as their importance in our everyday lives. Sessions throughout the week ensure that students in all year groups are engaged in purposeful, educational and exciting activities.
