Gold Medal for Qatar Scientific Club "Researcher 8" Competition: AI-Powered School Safety System
Our students Zain Ali (6C), Nathanael Jomaa (6E), and Kris Puthenparambil (6B) have spent the academic year developing an impressive STEM project that uses artificial intelligence to enhance school safety and streamline attendance. Their innovative system employs facial recognition and object detection algorithms to monitor student entry, automate attendance, and identify potential security threats in real time.
The project integrates cutting-edge tools such as Open CVl with Raspberry Pi, enabling live alerts via apps. Their design can even detect if a visitor is wearing the required school lanyard.
After presenting their project at the finals on Tuesday 22nd April, the team was awarded the Gold Medal in the category of Utilising AI with a Device—a well-deserved recognition of their creativity, teamwork, and technical skill.

Competing against top female students in Qatar, they tackled the challenge of a potentially uninhabitable Earth by proposing solutions for Mars colonisation. Their innovative approach earned them the Future Innovators Award! 🚀👏
